Officers Capture Home Burglary Suspects
San Rafael, CA – On Thursday, March 19, 2026, SRPD Officers arrested Alexis Zaid Garcia-Lopez, a 22-year-old Richmond resident, and Juan Alexi Monasterio-Arredondo, a 29-year-old Richmond resident, for the early morning burglary of a Terra Linda home.
Just before 5:00 AM, SRPD received an emergency call reporting a burglary in progress at a residence in the area of Diego Drive and Duran Drive in the Terra Linda neighborhood. The caller said that they could see a suspect on their surveillance camera inside the home. The home was unoccupied at the time of the burglary.
Officers arrived within minutes and established a perimeter around the home. Once the perimeter was established, officers approached the house and found the suspect still inside. The suspect ignored commands to surrender and attempted to flee on foot from the front of the residence, but he was immediately subdued.
During the suspect's arrest, officers found stolen items in his backpack and pockets. Our partners from the Marin County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with securing the scene.
Officers continued canvassing the surrounding neighborhood, believing there might have been a getaway driver in the area. They soon found the getaway driver located nearby and took him into custody. Both suspects were booked into the Marin County Jail. The recovered property from the burglary will be returned to the rightful owner.
SRPD also wants to thank the many neighbors who assisted with this investigation and provided outdoor surveillance video footage of the incident.
SRPD encourages our residents and businesses to take proactive measures to secure and protect their property. Quality indoor and outdoor surveillance systems, along with an alarm monitoring service, can significantly improve safety and deterrence while also assisting in investigation efforts should a crime occur. Additionally, making a proactive effort to get to know your neighbors and to report suspicious/criminal behavior improves overall community safety.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call San Rafael Police at (415) 485-3000. Tips can also be made online at http://www.srpd.org/tips.
