San Rafael Man Arrested for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material

San Rafael, CA – On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, San Rafael Police Department Detectives arrested John Jeremiah Hernandez, a 25-year-old San Rafael resident, for being in possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

On June 12, 2026, San Rafael police officers were dispatched to the area of Northgate One, in response to a report of an individual allegedly taking photographs of underage females. Officers subsequently contacted Hernandez in the area and took possession of his cellular phone as evidence for further forensic examination and investigation.

SRPD Detectives obtained a search warrant for Hernandez’ cellular phone, and after a thorough investigation, they located a large quantity of Child Sexual Abuse Material.

On July 8, 2026, SRPD Detectives arrested Hernandez at his residence in San Rafael, and he was booked into the Marin County Jail.

Cases involving the exploitation or abuse of minors are investigated with the highest priority through a coordinated law enforcement response. Investigators focus on the prompt collection of evidence and work closely with partner agencies to protect victims, support their recovery, and hold offenders accountable under the law.

Investigators are continuing their investigation into this case. No further information is available for release at this time.
