Former Para-Educator Arrested for Sexual Assault of Student
San Rafael, CA – On Tuesday, 06/10/2025, San Rafael Police Detectives arrested Isai Nicodemo Rodas, a 22-year-old San Rafael resident, for sexually assaulting a student. The investigation determined that the incidents occurred in late 2023. Rodas has been booked into the Marin County Jail for charges related to the sexual assault of a minor.
On Friday, June 6, 2025, officials with the Marin County Office of Education (MCOE) notified the San Rafael Police Department of a sexual assault between Rodas and a student. MCOE staff immediately reported the incident after the disclosure was made as part of properly following California’s law regarding mandated reporting.
During a coordinated investigation, it was learned that Rodas initiated inappropriate contact with a student in late 2023 while employed as a para-educator, a role similar to that of a teacher’s assistant, at Marin’s Community School in San Rafael. The inappropriate contact escalated to at least three separate incidents of sexual assault that occurred offsite from the school campus. At the time, Rodas was 20 years old, and the victim was 16 years old. Rodas separated from MCOE in June of 2024.
While Rodas never worked for San Rafael City Schools (SRCS), he is currently a member of the SRCS Board of Education, having joined in December 2024. Currently, we have no knowledge of any misconduct involving SRCS students. SRCS Administration and Board will work to suspend Mr. Rodas' Board duties for the foreseeable future, pending the outcome of this matter.
SRCS, MCOE, and SRPD are committed to protecting our student population and will continue to work together to ensure this goal.
As a result of the investigation, Rodas was arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail for Penal Code 261.5(c) - sexual assault with a minor with 3 years of age difference, Penal Code 647.6(a)(1) - child molesting, and Penal Code 243.4(c) - sexual battery.
The identity of the victim in this case is confidential, and assistance services and resources have been provided.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call San Rafael Police at (415) 485-3000. Tips can also be made online at http://www.srpd.org/tips.
