SRPD DUI and Driver's License Checkpoint Results
San Rafael, CA – On Friday, April 24, 2026, the San Rafael Police Department conducted a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driver’s License Checkpoint, from 5:00 pm to 1:00 am at Grand Avenue and Francisco Boulevard East in San Rafael. The selection of the location was based on statistics and data involving DUI incidents and arrests.
SRPD notified our community of the checkpoint in a press release that was issued on April 7, 2026. The purpose of the advance notification was to educate and raise awareness of the efforts SRPD makes every day to deter dangerous and deadly driving behaviors, including driving under the influence, that greatly impact our community.
During Friday’s operation, SRPD Officers screened 980 vehicles, conducted 5 DUI investigations that fortunately found the drivers to be under the legal limit of .08% BAC, issued 24 citations for unlicensed driving, one citation for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, issued nine citations for various moving violations, and one vehicle was impounded.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
