Shooting in the Canal Neighborhood

On Saturday June 4, 2022, just before midnight, the San Rafael Police Department Dispatch Center received a phone call about a male who had collapsed near the intersection of Medway Road and Mill Street in San Rafael. Responding officers discovered a Hispanic male adult who had been shot.  The San Rafael Fire Department responded to the scene and quickly transported the victim to a local hospital, where he died due to his injuries.

SRPD Detectives are currently working on locating evidence, witnesses, and trying to understand a motive for this senseless attack.  We are not releasing the identity of the victim at this time, due pending notification of his next of kin and also due to the ongoing nature of this investigation.

The San Rafael Police Department would like to extend our condolences to the friends and family of the victim.  We are requesting assistance from the public and is asking anyone who witnessed this incident to call the San Rafael Police Department at (415) 485-3000.
