Serial Commercial Burglary Suspect Arrested

On January 11, 2018 the San Rafael Police Department responded to a commercial burglary at an electrical supply warehouse. The suspect gained entry by cutting through the deadbolt lock on the front door with a concrete saw. Once inside, the suspect took high end tools. The suspect fled the store before the alarm company notified the police department of the break in. The same suspect burglarized the business again on January 20th.

During the course of the investigation, Det. Cpl. Alex Holm learned there were more burglaries of electrical and plumbing supply stores throughout the bay area with a similar method of entry.  Det. Holm coordinated with agencies across the Bay Area in an effort to identify the suspect.

Evidence located at the scene of the second San Rafael burglary by San Rafael Police Department patrol officers identified the suspect as Arthur Joseph Salvetti, 47 years old, a transient state prison parolee from Alameda County.  Salvetti was recently released from prison. Salvetti was linked to more than a dozen commercial burglaries and five stolen vehicles throughout the Bay Area, Morgan Hill and Sacramento.

Salvetti was located Thursday morning by Hayward Police. He is being held without bail for a parole violation.  San Rafael Police Department investigators responded to Hayward to recover possible stolen property.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call San Rafael Police at (415) 485-3000. Tips can also be made online at http://www.srpd.org/tips.
