Man Arrested with Loaded Pistol Near Transit Center

On Monday, November 27, 2017 at approximately 4:18 p.m. Officer Gino Rantissi was on patrol near the San Rafael Transit Center when he saw a man and a woman who appeared to be engaged in a physical fight. The woman was shouting and the man was holding her against a wall. Officer Rantissi stopped his patrol car to investigate. Both admitted to having an argument, but denied any violence had taken place.

A records check showed that the man had an outstanding arrest warrant for contempt of court. When officers attempted to take him into custody, he actively resisted arrest. Once handcuffed, officers searched him and found a loaded 9mm pistol in the pocket of his sweatpants. Joshua Berry, 19 of Marin City was booked at the Marin County Jail for the warrant, weapons charges and resisting arrest.
