Juvenile Suspect Arrested Brandishing of Replica Firearm
On 08-01-17 at approximately 2:15 a.m. officers responded to the 200 block of Canal Street regarding a subject who brandished a firearm. The victim told officers he went out to his car at approximately 2:10 a.m. to find a young male subject inside. There were four other young male subjects standing next to the car. The victim confronted the suspect and told him to get out of the car. The victim secured the car and began to walk away toward his apartment. Upon hearing a noise, the victim turned to see the suspect pointing what appeared to be a black semi-automatic pistol at him. The suspect threatened the victim before fleeing on foot with the other males. The responding officer found a magazine for a replica firearm at the scene.
Officers began checking the area for the suspects. Officer Tom Sabido located a group of male subjects matching the suspect description on Novato Street. They ran away upon seeing the officer. Officers located a 14 year-old suspect hiding in the bushes a short distance away. A replica firearm, which was missing its magazine, was found nearby. The suspect was booked at the Marin County Juvenile Hall for criminal threats and other related charges. An additional 12 year-old suspect was located at his residence. He was cited and released to the custody of his parents. Officers will continue to investigate to determine the identity of the remaining suspects.
