On Saturday, December 17, 2011 at approximately 7:50 a.m. a witness called the San Rafael Police Department after she saw a male suspect smash the window of a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Ross Street and remove property. The witness provided a detailed description of the suspect and advised that he rode away on a bicycle toward D Street.
Corporal Todd Berringer and Officer Marius Ramos responded to check the area and located a person on B Street who matched the description of the suspect. Greg Corser was detained while the incident was investigated. The witness positively identified Corser as the person whom she saw smash the window of the car. Cpl. Berringer searched Corser and found an iPod taken from the car on Ross Street. A camera stolen from a car on Oak Street was found in Corser’s backpack as well as property from an auto burglary that occurred in Santa Rosa. Several other items were retained in evidence for observation because they are believed to be stolen.
Corser was arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail for two counts of auto burglary, possession of stolen property, carrying a concealed dagger, possession of burglary tools, possession of a controlled substance, and identity theft. Corser is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
