Drunk Drivers Couldn't Hide Behind Halloween Costumes

Over the Halloween weekend, fourteen officers engaged in focused DUI/Drivers License enforcement patrols throughout the county.  Personnel from the San Rafael, Novato, Tiburon, and San Anselmo Police Departments participated.

Apparently the message that Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving was heeded over the weekend.

One hundred thirty seven traffic stops were made resulting in 18 field sobriety tests being administered.  Only one driver was arrested for DUI.

There were no alcohol related major injuries or fatal collisions during the weekend in Marin County.  This is a definite measure of success.

Enforcement operations will be conducted by Marin Avoid the 13 agencies during holiday periods throughout the year where the potential for alcohol abuse and driving activities may be mingled.

Funding for this operation was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
