On 09/15/2011, the San Rafael Police Department investigated five residential burglaries in the Terra Linda Area. The burglaries occurred on Sandalwood Court, Arias Street, Wakerobin Lane and Tarragon Drive. All five burglaries appear to be related.
The suspect (s) targeted the homes in the late afternoon and early evening hours and gained access through unlocked windows. The stolen property includes several pieces of jewelry and personal electronic equipment. Preliminary investigative leads suggest the suspect (s) watched as homeowners left the residence prior to breaking in.
To reduce your chances of being targeted, lock all doors and windows when leaving your home, even for a short period of time and install an alarm system with motion detectors and window sensors. Additionally, check the perimeter of your home and remove any items that may be used by a burglar to stand on and access windows.
San Rafael police have increased patrols in the area and investigators are following up on leads.
