San Rafael, CA – February 26, 2014. A San Rafael teenager was shot last evening and his assailant was taken into custody just a few hours later.
At 7:45 p.m. Tuesday evening, police received a report of a young man with bloody face standing in front of the Pickleweed Center. Officers arrived to find a teenager with two gunshot wounds. He said he was at Schoen Park on Canal Street when a young male walked up to him and shot him. He was able to provide a description of his attacker and was transported to Marin General Hospital by San Rafael Fire Department paramedics. The victim suffered serious, but not life threatening, injuries to his face and arm and remains hospitalized.
Investigators quickly developed information that identified the gunman. Due to the violent nature of the crime, the SRPD SWAT team was called out, and at 2:00 a.m. they arrested the suspect at his home on Lincoln Avenue. The teen was booked at Marin County Juvenile Hall for attempted murder. This crime appears to be gang related and the investigation is continuing.
