San Rafael, CA – January 22, 2014. The San Rafael Police Department office will be closed to the public for one day this week, on Friday, January 24th.
Friday’s closure is necessary in order to accommodate equipment and personnel relocating back to the main building after a stint in trailers in the department’s parking lot. The public lobby and office will re-open for business in the City Hall building on Monday, January 27th. The public hours remain the same, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Many of the department’s operations were moved into trailers in July 2012 in order to allow for energy efficient improvements to be made in City Hall. The building, which was constructed in 1965, has long experienced problems with the heating, venting, and air conditioning system. In addition to improving the physical climate in the building, the completed project is expected to reduce energy costs, as well as energy use and emissions.
