San Rafael, CA – December 19, 2013. Two men have been arrested in an October shooting where the victim went to a San Rafael Fire station for help.
On October 22nd at 11:25 p.m. a man arrived at the front door of SRFD Station #4 on Castro Street and said he had just been shot. The 29 year old San Rafael resident was treated by paramedics and transported to Marin General Hospital. He underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the torso and was released several days later. The victim told investigators that he was on Pelican Way with some friends, listening to music, when he was approached by a man he did not know. The suspect produced a handgun and shot him.
After a thorough investigation, detectives identified two suspects in the shooting. Earlier today detectives served a search warrant at a residence on Knoll Lane in unincorporated Mill Valley. Carmeron Weaver, age 23, was stopped and arrested as he drove away from his home at about 10:30 a.m. Weaver was carrying a loaded handgun at the time of his arrest. He was booked at Marin County Jail for attempted murder.
The second suspect, Ruben Torres, age 23, of San Rafael, is already in custody at Marin County Jail on a previous probation violation. He will be re-booked for the attempted murder charge this afternoon. Bail was set at $500,000 for each suspect.
