San Rafael, CA – June 23, 2013. Registration is now open for National Night Out (NNO) 2013. NNO is always held on the first Tuesday evening in August and this year it takes place on August 6th from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. The NNO program was created by the National Association of Town Watch in order to make a nationwide statement against crime. This is San Rafael’s second year participating in NNO and we’re looking forward to taking part in festivities with groups throughout our city. Join your police and fire departments by organizing a neighborhood activity on your block. Let’s give neighborhood crime and drugs a going-away party!
This year marks the 30th anniversary of National Night Out and is expected to be the largest ever. Last year, over 37 million people participated in communities from all 50 states, U. S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. Participating in NNO can be as simple as putting your porch lights on to show your support for the message.
Neighborhood events may be casual and informal like as a potluck or ice cram social, or more elaborate activities including a street party. This is a night to send a powerful message about neighborhood unity, crime prevention awareness, safety, and police-community partnerships. Let criminals know that San Rafael is united and dedicated to building a safer, more caring community.
If you want to hold an event, you must fill out the registration form including a detailed description of your activities (location(s), time, schedule, number of people, activities, etc).
