Suspect Sought in Armed Robbery (VIDEO)

San Rafael, CA – January 21, 2013.  San Rafael Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect responsible for the armed robbery of a cell phone and check cashing store this past weekend. 

On Saturday, January 19th at about 7:00 p.m. an armed man entered Variedades Cellular at 26 Medway Road.  He displayed a handgun and demanded money.  There were three employees in the store at the time and they quickly retreated to a back room that is protected by bullet-proof glass. The suspect attempted to follow them and fired his gun in their direction, narrowly missing one of them. Fortunately no one was injured.  After the shooting the suspect immediately fled the business. He is described as an African American male in his late 20’s or early 30’s, 5-6” to 5-10” with a heavy build.  He was wearing a black hoodie with the hood pulled down over his face.
