Six Arrested in Prostitution Sting

San Rafael, CA – September 7, 2012.  Six men were arrested Friday evening during a three hour prostitution sting.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m. San Rafael Police officers conducted a prostitution sting targeting suspected “johns” who are willing to exchange money for sexual acts.  The sting is a result of recent prostitution related arrests and contacts and the potential violence they can bring to the city.  Last week, a Santa Rosa parolee was arrested in the parking lot of Country Club Bowl on Vivian Way for possession of a stolen loaded handgun. David Ward, 32, was also suspected of “pimping” a 19 year old female from Fairfield.

Friday's efforts were directed towards those who are willing to pay for sex acts in the Canal area of San Rafael.  The goal is to educate the public and those who will come to the area for the purpose of prostitution related crimes that there is zero tolerance for this in our city. Both the prostitutes and their customers will be arrested.

Six men, all Marin County residents, were arrested after soliciting sex from an undercover police officer:  Juan Casia, age 24; Jose colli-Carbajal, age 27; Rene Ucan, age 39; Osmin Constanza Puac, age 28; Juan Calel Chan, age 18, all from San Rafael and Avelino Mejia Vasquez, age 43, from Novato.
