DUI / Driver's License Checkpoint

San Rafael, CA – June 2, 2012.  On Friday evening San Rafael Police personnel conducted a checkpoint at the intersection of East Francisco Blvd and Morphew Street.  Cars were screened from 6:30 PM to 11:00 PM.  Three hundred and sixteen vehicles passed through the checkpoint.

Six field sobriety tests were given and none of the drivers were found to be over the legal limit of .08 BAL.

One of the contacted drivers had a $60,000 Felony Drug warrant from Contra Costa County.  He was arrested for the warrant and booked.

Additional results from the operation were;

  • Two drivers operating with suspended licenses were arrested.
  • Nine unlicensed drivers were contacted, cited, and released.
  • Three vehicles were towed.   

The operation was funded by a DUI / Drivers License Step Grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
