Stolen Ferrari Recovered - Suspect Arrested

On Sunday, June 11, 2017 San Rafael Police Officers were dispatched to Francisco Boulevard East at Shoreline Parkway regarding a suspicious person who was associated with a 2016 Ferrari 488 GTB. The male subject approached someone in the area and asked for gas money. Another caller reported the subject was acting strangely and appeared to be pouring gasoline on the Ferrari.

Officers Delzell and Chiu arrived on scene and contacted the subject, who claimed to be the owner of the vehicle. He advised officers that the vehicle had been in the shop for service for two years and he had recently picked it up. The officers were skeptical of the man’s claims due, in part, to his erratic behavior and vague answers to questions. The man claimed that he had documentation proving his ownership of the vehicle in his back pack. He gave officers permission to search the back pack. Officer Delzell found the key to the Ferrari, a key to an additional Ferrari, but no ownership papers. The officers requested a representative from the Ferrari dealership respond to the scene. When the representative arrived, he confirmed the vehicle as having been stolen from the San Rafael service center. The Ferrari was valued at approximately $245,000.

Rocky Jimenez, 36 years old, of Georgia was arrested for vehicle theft, possession of a controlled substance and possession of stolen property. Officers located additional property stolen during a commercial burglary which occurred two days prior. Detectives are continuing to investigate to determine whether Jimenez may be linked to other crimes.
