Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested in Downtown San Rafael. Caught in Alcohol Sting

San Rafael, CA - On Friday March 10, 2017, the Westamerica Bank located at 1 Mitchell Blvd in the Terra Linda area of San Rafael was robbed by a black male suspect. The suspect was last seen walking east on Mitchell Blvd. SRPD and Marin Sheriff Deputies checked the area but the suspect was not found (see previous press release for details).

On Saturday, March 11, 2017, at approximately 1130 hrs San Rafael Police Officers and Special Operations Unit members Sergeant Scott Eberle, Officer Anthony Scalercio and Officer Scott Fisher were conducting an alcoholic beverage sting operation on ‘B’ Street, near the Safeway grocery store. The alcohol decoy, SRPD Cadet Elisa Delatorre, witnessed what she believed was a drug deal and told the officers.

Officer Scalercio and Officer Fisher contacted three subjects in a parking lot. They noticed one suspect looked like the bank robbery suspect seen from a surveillance photograph. The subject, identified as Cedric Ray Vincent, 21, from San Rafael, was found to have been recently released from prison and on parole for robbery.  Vincent had a large amount of currency in his possession. Vincent agreed to return to SRPD for questioning. At SRPD, bait money taken during the robbery was found in Vincent’s pockets.

The two other subjects contacted with Vincent were released. Cedric Ray Vincent was arrested by SRPD Detectives and booked for Bank Robbery.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call San Rafael Police at (415) 485-3000. Tips can also be made online at http://www.srpd.org/tips.
