Apartment Fire at 215 Bayview Street, San Rafael

On Friday, March 10, 9:15 am, the San Rafael Police Department received notice of a structure fire at the apartment complex located at the 215 Bayview Apartments. SRPD officers arrived on scene and saw smoke rising from one of the apartment buildings located on the south end of the complex. Neighbors directed officers to a female victim who had extensive burns and collapsed in the parking lot fronting the building.  There was one apartment unit fully engulfed in flames and six to eight additional upstairs units in the four-story building impacted by heavy smoke.

San Rafael Fire Department firefighter/paramedics, along with additional resources from Larkspur Fire, Novato Fire and Marin County Fire, arrived and immediately began fire suppression, evacuation and medical treatment activities.  One victim with extensive burns and one victim suffering from smoke inhalation were transported to area hospitals for further treatment and evaluation.

Residents and pets from several apartments were evacuated and displaced.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
