San Rafael, CA – July 29, 2013. In less than an hour Saturday evening, San Rafael Police responded to two separate fights which resulted in 6 injured persons, with four of them taken to the hospital. Two men are in custody on felony assault charges stemming from the events.
Three Men Injured in Parking Lot Brawl
On 07/27/13 at 10:02 p.m. officers responded to the 400 block of Canal Street on a report of people fighting in a parking lot. Arriving officers found three men with injuries to their faces and heads. It was determined that they were struck with a belt and a metal pipe. The San Rafael Fire Department treated two of the men for injuries at the scene and one was taken to the hospital. Wilfido Mazariegos Rodas, age 32, was arrested and booked for assault with a deadly weapon. Herminio Lopez, 19 and Cesar Lopez Chilel, 33, were both issued citations for being intoxicated in public and fighting in public. All three are San Rafael residents.
Three Men stabbed in Parking Lot
On 07/27/13 at 10:57 p.m. officers were called to 40 Sonoma Street on a report of people fighting in the parking lot. Officers arrived on the scene and found two males in a neighboring complex suffering from stab wounds. A third male was found with a stab wound to his arm. All three were taken to the hospital and treated for their injuries. The suspect, 21 year old Keni Lopez Perez, fled from the scene, but later returned and was detained by family and friends of the victims. Lopez Perez was placed under arrest and booked at the Marin County Jail for three counts of assault with a deadly weapon and battery causing a serious injury.
The two above incidents are not related to one another.
