New Years Eve Weekend Second DUI/Driver's License Checkpoint

San Rafael, CA – December 31, 2012.  On Sunday evening the San Rafael Police conducted a checkpoint at the intersection of Grand Avenue and East Francisco Blvd.  The checkpoint ran from 6:00 PM to 11:30 PM.  One thousand, one hundred and seventy two vehicles passed through the checkpoint.

Sergeant Eberle made a felony arrest of an adult male visiting from Montana who had the drug Ecstasy and Marijuana in his possession. 

Sergeant Aguilar arrested an adult female from Sacramento that had an outstanding $15,000 warrant from Alameda County for prostitution.  She was also driving on a suspended license.              

Fourteen field sobriety tests were administered.    

Additional results from the operation were;

  • Four drivers operating with suspended licenses were arrested. 
  • Nineteen unlicensed drivers were contacted, cited, and released.
  • Two traffic citations were issued.
  • Six vehicles were towed.

This operation is part of the on-going traffic safety effort over the period of December 14th to January 1st.  Checkpoints, strike teams and other DUI/DL directed enforcement activities will take place daily throughout this period to promote public safety.    

The operation was funded by the Checkpoint Program DUI / Drivers License Grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
