San Rafael, CA – November 14, 2012. San Rafael Police are searching for a knife wielding man who entered an apartment last night and confronted the two young occupants.
At 10:30 p.m. Tuesday SRPD received a 911 call from a residence in the 200 block of Playa del Rey. A man armed with a knife had come into the apartment and confronted the two female residents, age 18 and 19. There was a physical fight between the suspect and one of the victims as the other victim was calling police. The suspect ran from the scene and was gone before officers arrived. One of the victims had a minor injury and was treated and released by paramedics. Both young women were understandably shaken by the crime, but were able to provide a good description of the suspect. A police artist will be working with the victims and a sketch will be released as soon as it becomes available.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 19 to 25 years old, 5’ 6” with a thin build. He has dark skin, high cheekbones, and “sun spots” on his face. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up so that just his face was exposed. The suspect received substantial facial injuries and possible stab wounds to the upper body and he may seek medical attention. All hospital emergency rooms and clinics in the Bay Area are asked to be aware and call 911 if a patient matching his description is seen.
This afternoon detectives are conducting a door-to-door neighborhood canvas for more witnesses, and checking on parolees, probationers, and sex registrants. Physical evidence obtained at the scene will be sent to the Department of Justice for analysis.
