Two Suspects Arrested for Residential Burglary

Starting in June of 2019 through late August of 2019, the City of San Rafael saw an increase in residential burglaries, mainly in the Terra Linda Area of San Rafael.  There were fourteen burglaries during this time period and these cases were assigned to Detective James Dooley of the San Rafael Police Department Investigations Bureau.

The burglaries were committed by entering unoccupied residences, mainly in the morning hours.  Typically, the suspect(s) would enter the backyard of the residence and force entry into the residence by breaking a window or prying a door.  When inside the residence, the suspect(s) would generally take jewelry and electronics.  These crimes happened very quickly and there was little evidence left behind.

Detective Dooley followed up on all leads and tirelessly investigated these burglaries.  With the help of some witnesses from the Terra Linda area, additional leads were discovered.  These leads allowed Detective Dooley to obtain a search warrant for a residence in Richmond which was served by SRPD Detectives in late August.  Additional evidence from the search warrant was located which allowed Detective Dooley to obtain arrest warrants for two subjects.

On Wednesday, September 11, 2019, Detectives from SRPD and Detectives from the Marin County Major Crimes Task Force went to Richmond seeking to arrest the two subjects.  Both subjects were located, arrested, and booked at the Marin County Jail.  The subjects arrested were Francisco Vasquez and DeShawn Williams, both are 19 year old residents of Richmond.  They were both booked for multiple counts of residential burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call San Rafael Police at (415) 485-3000. Tips can also be made online at http://www.srpd.org/tips.
