Purse Theft Suspect In Custody
San Rafael, CA – May 10, 2011. The suspect who took a woman’s purse from her cart while she was shopping in the Terra Linda Safeway store, is in custody after he returned to the scene of the crime today.
On Monday, May 9th at 11:53 a.m. the suspect was seen on surveillance video as he took a purse from the shopping cart of a customer. He removed cash, ID, and credit cards and dumped the purse in the store restroom. One of the cards was used within the hour at a San Rafael gas station. This morning around 11:00 a.m. Safeway management called to report that the suspect was back in the store and waiting in line at the deli counter. The manager stayed on the phone with the dispatcher and reported the suspect’s movements. He was taken into custody as he left the store. Mark Allen Miller, age 57, of Greenbrae was booked at Marin County Jail on felony charges of burglary, grand theft from a person, and use of a stolen credit card.
