ID Needed on Theft Suspect 

San Rafael, CA – May 10, 2011.  San Rafael Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect in a grand theft that occurred on Monday at the Safeway store in Terra Linda  

On Monday, May 9th at 11:53 a.m. the suspect took a purse from the shopping cart of a customer.  While the victim was unloading the items from her shopping cart onto the conveyor belt, the suspect took her purse from the cart, put it in the shopping basket he was holding and walked away.  He went to the front restroom of the store where he removed the cash, ID, and credit cards and dumped the purse in the restroom garbage can. The suspect was seen walking out of the store empty handed.  About an hour later one of the victim’s credit cards was used to make a gasoline purchase in the area. The suspect is a white male between 40 and 50 years old with brown hair.  He was wearing a short sleeved t-shirt with writing and numbers on the front.
